After the Grant

Reporting Requirements

The Foundation is interested in learning how our grants help nonprofit organizations strengthen their strategic, collaborative work. Helping to sustain vital organizations who are building vibrant communities is our common goal. Such evaluation helps organizations – and the Foundation – to assess operations, mission-related activities, and their impact in strengthening our community.

We will ask all grantees to report on progress and challenges annually. A small number of organizations will also receive post-grant site visits from Foundation staff and/or committee members for deeper conversation.

Publicizing Your Grant

We encourage our grantees to publicize grants from the Rancho Santa Fe Foundation, and to share information about your organization’s work in the community. Identifying the Rancho Santa Fe Foundation as a source of support lends credibility to our collective efforts. You can publicize the Foundation’s support in a number of ways:

Create a link on your website to the Rancho Santa Fe Foundation. When we include the name of a grantee on our website, we provide a hyperlink to the nonprofit’s website. By including a link to our website, you help increase traffic to both our sites. We encourage you to use the Foundation’s logo where appropriate. We will provide black-and-white or color versions in digital format. Please let us know how you plan to use the logo so we can help you get the best results.

Mention the Rancho Santa Fe Foundation’s grant support in your organization’s press releases, annual reports, newsletters, brochures, flyers, etc. When doing so, please use the following language to acknowledge your grant from the Rancho Santa Fe Foundation: Funding provided (or funded in part) by a grant from the Rancho Santa Fe Foundation.

Issue a news release to the media to garner publicity for your grant funding. Adding photos to your stories and articles showcases the personal and essential efforts of your organization. We welcome copies of publications or media coverage that mention your grant and will share this information with donors and Board members when appropriate.

Support the Rancho Santa Fe Foundation’s marketing efforts through the following: submit success stories and photos of your organization and/or work. When submitting photos, please send one or two high-resolution images that best show your work, plus a brief description that may be used in our print and electronic newsletters, annual report or donor engagement pieces.

Press Tools

Often, the media is more interested in hearing directly from a nonprofit organization and the people it benefits. If we coordinate our efforts, we can be more successful in getting the word out. Community newspapers in your service area, as well as The Union Tribune, the North County Times, and the San Diego Business Journal may be interested in your story. Radio stations may be interested in an on-air interview, while TV stations look for stories with visual appeal. Tell the story of your organization through the people you serve and the impact on the community.

If you need a description of the Rancho Santa Fe Foundation for press releases, please use the following:
