What can an endowment fund do for your nonprofit organization?  One way to find out is to see what endowments are doing for other nonprofits.  The goals they have set to invite donors to help them fulfill their missions for a sustainable future will inspire you.  Think about the stories you will have to tell about the people served, the animals adopted or the lives saved if you begin now to provide for the future.

The Benefits of an Endowment Fund

The following are endowment purposes from several of the nearly 60 organizations that have established endowment funds at the Rancho Santa Fe Foundation:

Chelsea’s Light Foundation: To support Sunflower Scholarships for students who stand out from the crowd, just as a sunflower does.

Friends of San Pasqual Academy (a residential campus for foster teens): We know that planning for the future of Friends is a key to helping the kids plan for their futures.

The Nature Collective (Formerly San Elijo Lagoon Conservancy): To protect San Elijo Lagoon Ecological Reserve and its watershed, by continuing our scientific monitoring, restoration activities, and land acquisition efforts for the future of the reserve and our future generations.

Vista Community Clinic: To guarantee that doctors, nurses and health care professionals will be available to provide high quality, low-cost care to our community, focusing on those members who face economic, cultural and social barriers.

Our newest endowment fund supports inewsource, an independent nonprofit dedicated to satisfying a need for credible, in-depth, data-driven journalism. inewsource is based at San Diego State University’s School of Journalism and Media Studies, underscoring their commitment to the next generation of journalists.

Your nonprofit does not have to be large to have an endowment fund, but it should be visionary. An endowment is a bridge to the future, providing assurance to your donors that their investment in your mission today will continue to provide returns for future generations. The Rancho Santa Fe Foundation invites you to partner with us to help you provide a sustainable future for your nonprofit organization.
